本片叙述苏联入侵美国，并屠杀美国的居民，居民都无力反抗，此时有一群年青人联合起来对抗入侵者……。The subtitle of Jean-Marie Straub and Danièle Huillet’s first feature, from 1965, “Only Violence Helps Where Violence Reigns,” suggests the fierce political program evoked by their rigorous aesthetic. The pretext of the film, set in Cologne, is Heinrich Böll’s novel “Billiards at Half Past Nine,” which they strip down to a handful of stark events and film with a confrontational angularity akin to Bartók’s music that adorns the soundtrack. The subtlest of cues accompany the story’s complex flashbacks. The middle-aged Robert Fähmel tells a young hotel bellhop of persecutions under the Third Reich| his elderly father, Heinrich, an architect famed for a local abbey, recalls the militarism of the First World War, when his wife, Johanna, incurred trouble for insulting the Kaiser. A third-generation Fähmel is considering architecture, just as the exiled brother of Robert’s late wife, returns, only to be met by their former torturer, now a West German official taking part in a celebratory parade of war veterans. Straub and Huillet make the layers of history live in the present tense, which they judge severely. The tamped-down acting and the spare, tense visual rhetoric suggest a state of moral crisis as well as the response—as much in style as in substance—that it demands.。30年代的香港，社局动荡，黑帮林立。香港大亨胡老头这日找到私家侦探哎吆（林子祥 饰），要求其调查胡太太，因为他觉得胡太太这些天表现奇怪。哎吆调查后发现，原来是坏蛋神父卡邦派（麦嘉 饰）人勾搭上了胡太，意欲偷取胡老头价值连城的股票。他们这一计划遭哎吆撞破后，四处追杀哎吆。 哎吆亡命之际，又发现了胡老头其实并非什么香港大亨，只是一名老千，他来香港的目的就是要骗卡邦等流氓的钱。胡老头邀请哎吆入伙，一起设局骗卡邦。和好友探长罗宾（泰迪•罗宾 饰）商量后，哎吆决定来个将计就计。。
