这部单镜头情景喜剧松散地改编自编剧Kenya Barris的个人生活经历。主人公是一个中上阶层的黑人（Anthony meijubar.net Anderson），他试图依靠自己保留的「文化特性」来抚育子女，但却在各方面遭遇障碍：开明大方的妻子（Tracee Ellis Ross），因循守旧的父亲，还有被时代「同化」的孩子们全都反对他。。Set against the world of a major drug cartel bust, the series follows two low-level cops who have spent far too much time in a car together| two criminals who are largely kept in the dark| two dispatch workers who haven't really clicked| and two Mexican tunnelers who are in way too small a space considering they've only just met.。故事讲述未来世界被恐怖的变异怪兽占领，幸存者被分割成小型部落，艰难地为生存而战。其中一个部落中的几个年轻人逃离了怪兽们的一次围攻，因而发现了外面有更多的人类生存，虽然他们过得其实也挺惨。。
